Dear Wellspring Ohana and Friends,

For five years, Chip and Joanna Gaines entertained and also won our hearts with their hit remodeling show “Fixer Upper”, that showcased their gifts of transforming neglected old houses into beautiful homes for their clients. The process of being able to create a space uniquely for each person, couple, or family, came about as a result of listening to their clients’ hopes, dreams and desires for a place to truly call their home. After all, home is where the heart is.

Two Sundays from today, you are invited to participate in our very own Family ‘Fixer Upper’ Day led, by our Resource Leaders T.J. Breshears (Children’s Ministry) and Jensen Kalua (Youth Ministry). Family ‘Fixer Upper’ Day is inspired by a vision to create an inviting home space for our children and youth through “small kine” renovation projects that transform their spaces into comfortable places to hang out, connect and grow closer to Christ and with each other.

Since T.J. has started, I’ve already seen and heard the keiki running around upstairs in their class, laughing and having fun! Can you imagine how much more inviting their space will be with brighter walls, curtains, and a display that will hold art created by the children themselves? The Youth already love to hang out in their classroom. We would like to enhance their living space with a chalkboard wall, and create more of a feel of a home space that invites vulnerability, comfort, and meaningful conversations and activities. Our Toddler Room has been full of adorable and playful young ones and we could use some hands to thoroughly wash and sanitize toys, as well as replace and discard some toys that have been enjoyed for too long.

If you can, please stay to help out on Sunday, September 1st, immediately after church ends, by sewing, washing, hammering, painting, and organizing for our keiki and youth home spaces. As we work alongside one another, I can’t think of a better way to make new friends and catch up with long time friends, as well as caring for and renovating our church home and our souls.

Fixed on Jesus,

Pastor Cheryl
